This way, the waistcoat and matching jacket are always in the same place.
Well, like I've been saying, I hang the waistcoat inside the jacket, on the pants bar of the jacket hanger.
Anyway, I've been making an adjustable pattern for a waistcoat. When I'm finnished, I should be able to make waistcoats, as I find the material that I want, to go with any of my jackets, or on their own. I'll be able to choose diferent neck lines and cuts... so we'll see what happens.

Both go on the same floor, hopefully together.

I have noticed in the last year that many of our super-stores here in the UK, that sell clothing as well as food, are hanging waistcoats and trousers on a kind of hanger-within-a-hanger. If you can imagine a plastic strip that looks like this:
O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O
and hangs vertical from the top hook of the hanger. The 'Os' are holes and the '-' are twisty bits. This allows all manner of accessories to be hung from the same hanger, but each being on a separate hanger is individually accessible. My wife and I are off to Tesco this afternoon to see if we can 'acquire' one of these to test it out.
Ted, please keep us posted on your adjustable waistcoat pattern. I have been looking for something similar myself - one basic design with alterations to suit the occasion.
Regards
Chas

The solution i have which i was shown by the lady who fitted me for my pc is waistcoat and jacket are hung up togeather waistcoat inside my jacket like it would be worn then when I'm putting them on I keep them togeather and put them on as one item saving the need to find somehere to put my jacket while putting on my waistcoat. I hope this helps for those of us with only one jacket and no need to worry about switching jackets

Well, I'm using a regular waistcoat as a pattern to make the pattern. I'm cutting the pattern out of single ply cardboard, and each feature of the waistcoat is on it's own piece of cardboard ; they all line up. I have to use cardboard because I sew along the edges, and I usually end up getting a few stitches in the paper patterns. With the different pieces of card board, I can adjust the length of the waistcoat, or use a different neck line pattern, and it all goes on the same back and arm holes.
I would guess that the same could be done with regular paper patterns; just get a couple of waistcoat patterns, and switch fronts.
