I would also recommend a more recently published book, "The Border Reivers" by Alistair Moffat. He doesn't quite have the dry wit of Fraser but he provides some additional insights into who the reivers were, how they were organized, how they conducted their raids, and the overall impact on the entire region.

There is also a Osprey book called "The Steel Bonnets" about the Border Reivers. If you just want a quick introduction this is a good choice - but I warn you, you'll want to then read both Fraser's and Moffat's books.

There's a plenty of Armstrong obstinancy in my blood lines so I'm in as well.

Hmm.... It looks like I'm the sole representative of Clan Little thus far.

BTW, this is an excellent CD:

My wife has always thought I had that wild rogue look and air about me so I guess the reiver background suits my personality. Haven't poached any sheep or cattle lately-----getting a little edgy, might need to get out for a night of adventure.

That may be, however my Grahams are the Scottish variety, I'm first generation Canadian, my parents were both born in Scotland.
