Anyone actually had a problem taking a kilt pin through securtiy?

On my resent trip to Vegas, the Kilt pins got extra attention both ways. The first time I was Kilted & got the twice over (they had a trainee there so I was the 'volunteer' for the day) and then flying back I had the Kilt packed on my carry-on (the only luggage I had), well that got unpacked and inspected, but the security manager said "Its a Kilt pin? Its ok." Thats why I want to find a non-metal kilt pin for those situations.

I have some elk antler I'm thinking about using for a pin. If that little project turns out well, I'll send you a PM and a picture- if you're interested, of course.

The security world is full of jobsworths alas who seek to justify their existence by trying to get you for anything they can if the mood strikes them.

I will relate an experience I had last week when boarding my cruise ship later - no problem with the kilt pin in that respect fortunately but I will be writing to the cruise company about the security guy's attitude regarding items which were not specifically specified in their literature - he was not their direct employee but of the Port Authority. I rarely lose my temper but I did with him.
