OK, I'm not gonna give up my award winning recipe, but here is what I based it on, a really basic 3 ingredient recipe any guy with an oven and/or an understanding spouse can make.

    INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter (at room temp)
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

    ..DIRECTIONS
    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and wash your hands!
    2. Cream (mix) in a bowl the butter and brown sugar. Add about 1 & 3/4 cups flour. Mix well. I use a big spoon, but If you have a fancy heavy duty mixer, go ahead.
    3. Sprinkle your work area with the remaining flour. Knead with your hands for 5 minutes, adding enough flour to make a soft dough. Roll or press out to a 1/2 inch thickness.
    4. Cut into 3x1 inch strips. a pizza cutter is handy for this. Poke a few holes in them with a fork and place on ungreased baking sheets.
    5. Bake at 325 degrees F for 20 to 24 minutes. Don't burn yourselves!

    Enjoy

There's a lady from Northern Ireland here in our office who makes a great shortbread every Christmas season. Wonder if she'd share her recipe ...

Of course, it still wouldn't be made in Scotland.
