I am also interested
Very much interested in fact. So much depends on the dates and cost though.

I'd be interested as well - being in San Francisco and so close as it is - but cost and time would be huge factors... Besides the required "home ec" in 6th grade, I've not sewed anything.
Does anyone have an idea of cost? - rough estimate would be great!
Another Southpaw,
Noah

I would be interested in Troy NY in 2010. I would camp there since it is summer. What is the cost? Who gets the fabric?

Troy Class
I attended the Braemar school of highland dance and kiltmaking this year and made my own tank. It was one of the best weeks vacation I've ever had. The teacher Judy Sullivan was taught by Elsie. I highly recommend this class. At $485 for room board and instruction you cant go wrong. You bring your own tartan, scissors and work light and Judy supplies everything else. here is a link to this years brochure. http://www.highlandisland.com/media/..._June27_NY.pdf

Hey Gozzard
I was in the class with you. and it was great fun! Took a week for my fingers to get back to normal. I plan going again in 2010.
I saw some of our class mates last week-end at Loon Mountain....

Nope... I'm looking at the material, right now for my last two kilts. One is for Bethany and one is for Piper George. They're in my room as I write this.

Even seven thumbed me would consider the opportunity to learn from Elsie and make my own (albeit probably crappy quality) tank a phenomenal learning experience about what goes into making a kilt. It has been literally years since I sewed anything more than a button, although I have sewn pants, shirts, a kaftan, and numerous kites in my younger years.
As others, time, place, and expense would be determining factors, but I am sure I could find some tartan to work with by late winter.
