Great pics. I love historic military aircraft.
BTW the Link trainer was made in my old home town of Binghamton, NY. The company was later called Singer/Link. The Singer part of that name is famous for it's sewing machines. Link simulators was around in Binghamton until (I believe) the early 1990s when it was sold.

Vintage Airplanes
My Other Half and I went to AirVenture this year. My first time there and I still say WOW when I talk about it. He has gone many times, but his last time was 10 yrs ago.
It was an incredible experience, and we are already talking about going again next year.
I have lots of pictures if anyone wants me to send them some. I don't think I should post them here as he only wore his kilt one day. It was WINDY!

"Sentimental Journey" is a beauty! I got a chance to climb around in her when she visited the air show in nearby Elmira, NY, years ago. The museum there fell on hard times, and unfortunately had to sell their B-17G, the "Fuddy Duddy."
My dad is a Singer-Link retiree, and was one of Ed Link's boys back in the early '50s. He worked on all of the great Link trainers and simulators, from those early tiny examples, up through and including the Apollo LEM and command modules, and the SR-71 "Blackbird" spy-plane. The latter was a top secret project at the time, and Dad couldn't even tell us what he was working on...!

Back in the late 90s, I was on a 3 day golf trip to the Fayetteville North Carolina We were playing at a golf course called, The Carolina Course, which was within sight of an airport. The Confederate air force was having a fly in. All day there were old planes buzzing around over the airport and the golf course. I had one of the worst rounds of golf I've ever played. It is extremely difficult to hit a golf ball when you are looking up at all of the classic aircraft flying overhead, instead of at the ball. But, it was about the most fun I've ever had on a golf course.

Awesome pics!! I actually got the chance to fly in the B-17G "Nine-O-Nine" a few years back when it came to St. Simons Island, Ga. Unfortunately, the pics got deleted during my divorce in 2006 by my now exwife.....I also got the chance as a WWII reenactor to go up to South Carolina for the last Doolittle's Raiders reunion/air show. They had something like 15 restored and flying B-25's there. That was a site seeing them all taxi-ing down the runway and taking off!.
I love the old warbirds!
Cheers,
Chad

COOL!
One of my dreams is to ride in a B-17 (in the bombardiers position).
Back in the winter of '89 I attended a POW symposium & got to meet three of Doolittle's Raiders who had been interred in Russia for the duration of the war.
I hope to be adding more photos in a couple of weeks!
