Is the steel blade in contact with the copper? If so aren't you opening yourself up to galvanic corrosion? Usually copper and steel have to be insulated from each other such as in a house with rubber or pvc fittings. The contact of copper and steel creates a small current which causes the galvanic corrosion.

Nope. Steel contacts with brass only.
The matter of galvantic forces, and their abatement, is - of course- a subject of lifetime study. Suffice it to say that any electrical conductor will transmit such forces- metals and non-metals akin- and metals in their path are subject to consequental effects! Scenarios run from microseconds to millenia.
Anyhow, I think this knife will outlast me. It seems that 'corrosion' on the biological front is even more relentless, and unavoidable.

Once again a thing of beauty. It almost makes me want to wear shoes and hose, rather than my normal sandals, just so I could slip it into my hose.

Here is an update:
I am very pleased with the copper and brass handle. It has performed very well. In contrast, I am exceedingly dissapointed with the blades. That's right: blades.
I should have made my own blades. Making a blade isn't all that hard. But I didn't want to shift gears in the shop. I am behind on buckles, behind on brooch pin design and constuction, and I am too easily side-tracked as it is (Tarpon!).
To save time, I bought 3 blades that were to have been 1095 carbon, tempered to 50 Rockwell.
- I broke the tang of blade number one in a piece of wood
- I bent blade number two on an oyster shell (principally calcium carbonate)
The owner of the company that sells these blades has asked that I return them, and I will. I can see how these things might happen, but it is a dissapointment, and a lot of work down the drain on my end. I am just glad I didn't sell one to somebody.

Looks nice. Sounds like they're going to get some serious testing before they see the market.
