Great photos Alex - and like the rest, I'm glad to see the young people wearing kilts.
I'm wondering if the "backward" worn kilt was actually displayed this way on purpose - as it would then show the satire design in the pleats, which might otherwise be missed by the casual observer.

I second that... Speaking of which, I haven't seen a posting from Robertson in quite some time? Hopefully he's just too busy with guests (and entertaining them with drams and pub crawls)... Anyone hear of him lately?

Yes, myself and Alex were down there a week or two ago for the visit by Patrick and his Norwegian students. Robertson and Emma are really busy but are in their usual good form. Hopefully he'll put up a few posts soon

Not that I want to defend them, but I think they do that so they can show off the unique design of the kilt which would be impossible to see if it was being worn properly. I've seen some shops display their rampant lion designs in the same way.

That still leads to the possibility of some ignorant tourist buying it and wearing it that way around - I have actually seen them trying on ordinary tartans in these shops with the pleats at the front and not be corrected by staff.

Certainly far more than I saw on my last visit!
Total then : one piper, one hotel doorman (not counting the shop dummies, of course).

Thanks Alex! It's nice to see kilts in their home land.
