Brian,
You don't think that is some kind of death wish?

It's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

There once was a Sikh in Radink
who enjoyed chewing khat with his drink
he overdid it one day
and started to play
the pipes and wore tartans of pink

You and I are of the same mind on so many things. I personally like the melding of cultures. They are not Scottish. They are not trying to be Scottish. They are showing how influenced they are by the culture without trying to mimic it. That's exactly how I am. The one thing that does annoy me, however, is the complete lack of piping. Although I loved that version of O Fortuna... Anyone here listen to Corvus Corax? The do a very interesting arrangement of the Carmina Burana. If you've never heard them, they are not to be missed! http://www.corvuscorax.de/

Well, the first bit of music is the first movement of Carmina Burana (semper crescis aut decrescis...), with interesting rhythmic distortions. The original triple rhythm is superimposed on that duple backbeat rhythm with an occasional extra beat. Hmmm the extra beat is llike bluegrass or some Celtic music styles, isn't it? Or hip-hop, I suppose.
But then it alternates with another bit which I don't recognize. Anyone have an ID?? I'd like to meet the maniac who arranged it.
One thing about the Pakistani pipe bands, is you have to give points for style!

Just poke around YouTube, there's plenty of it there.

I think it's a very interesting example of how the elements of one culture change and influence another.

You use the word 'style' pretty loosely there...
