I'm doing black tie, but it doesn't have to be so. The kilt is a must, though.

Don't know about black-tie, but I will do jacket and tie.

Well, something changes! Now it looks like we'll be ringing in New Year with the Blaggards and the girltorage at the Ashford Arms.

After paying our taxes and buying a car, the only thing we have money for is staying at home... And here too, most foreign nationals go home for the holidays so it's going to be pretty quiet.
May try to put together a low-cost overnight trip into the mountains at least though... Get away from the city and people.

I admit it. I had to look up Hogmanay to figure out what in the world this thread was about. Generally speaking, it's not something that I've ever gotten all excited about. I think the most fun I've had was hanging out at a local 24 hour diner playing RPG's till the wee hours. Sadly, that won't happen this year, so I'll just stay up playing games on the XBox 360 and have a beer or three in celebration.

The wife and I will be at Panama City Beach, probably at Tootsie's for the evening. I'm sure we'll have a wee dram or three.
On the first, we'll have black-eyed peas, collard greens, and corn bread. The haggis will have to wait for the Burns Supper.

I really, really wanted to do the Polar Bear Plunge off Tybee Island kilted again this year (it's the cheap City Of Glasgow kilt that doesn't fit worth a crap anyway...I go wash it out in the hotel tub with some Woolight and you can't even tell I've been in the ocean with it). I have a herniated disc and I don't think I'll be comfortable enough this time to go down (about 5 hours from where I live).
We have a friend who throws a lobster party in Buckhead. I've first footed her a few times and may go for that this year. After her last party in November I played a BarleyJuice CD for her and she loved it! and wants a copy. Maybe she'll let me play that during her party. She's our age but likes new dance-type music (which drives me crazy sometimes).
Oh, well. Maybe I can sneak down to Fado's for quick one. Don't get down there too often.

All of my family normally met at my gran's house. We lost her this year so my aunt promised to do something at hers... should be fun! I'll probably wear one of my newer kilts for the first time too.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Man, the food sounds really great at all these parties! Wish I could make a world tour and sample everything that night!
