If you do get to Barras together for the concert, a kilt will need to be one that is easy to clean as there are some who toss the beer around in the pit. The Boston Celtics T-shirt will go over well, especially if you are near the stage. Al Barr will love it and you might be among the first asked onto the stage for some of the numbers they perform with a lot of the men from the audience on stage. They will be performing some of their version of traditional Celtic fare. It is mostly of Irish bent, but the lyrics are well known. Join in, and have fun. The CDs are good, In person is awesome.

I have seen them four times. My oldest daughter (13) has seen them with me twice and my son (10). Ken Casey kept pointing to my son because he had a mohawk and was rocking out and new all the words. Great concert for kids, I have never had a problem at a Murphys' show. Sadely last time I saw them I was not into kilts yet, I will be kilted next time.- George

I'll likely see you before the gig to sort out money and I'll buy you a pint when you're there ; two infact as I owe you one from the Worlds as well!
As far as the kilt goes - I've seen someone wearing one around the barras the last few times I've went down for the bus! Mainly older gents and the last time the guy was wearing a lovely Black Watch horehair sporran.
I'll probably wear my Boston Celtics t-shirt, anyway!
OK, Paul, thats 2 tickets confirmed and booked online, looking forward to the show
Last time i was in the Barrowland was for a Wolfetones concert so I know what to expect, it will be one of my less pricey kilts I'll be wearing on the night.

Looking forward to it Steve, i've got the tickets booked for me and Paul.
I'll take your advice and wear one of the kilts I wear at football matches, hope wearing the kilt does'nt single us out for being invited on stage, i would die if that happened

Jimmy and all,
Wearing the kilt will not get Al's attention as much as a Boston Celtics T-shirt.
Paul and I are fans of the Boston Celtics, a basketball team in the U.S., not to be confused with the Celtic, a football team in the U.K.
The band is from Boston, Massachusetts, and Al Barr (lead vocals) is a fan of the Boston Sports teams. Basketball the Celtics (Plenty of green shamrocks), the ice hockey team of the Bruins, and the baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Ken Casey( lead vocals and bass) and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes, whistle) opened a pub near Fenway Park (baseball stadium) decorated in Red Sox memorabilia, called McGreevey's after a pub that was the hangout of baseball fans a century ago. It is a very Celtic themed decor and is the neighbourhood "living room" of many regulars from the surrounding firms. I tend to custom this pub before and after the concerts, along with the Dropkick Murphys and many other fans.
I will be interested to know if the band performs kilted, or in trousers (except Scruffy, who doesn't own any trousers and Matt Kelley(Percussion) who doesn't own a kilt.)
Most important of all is to enjoy the music.

Good stuff Jimmy!

That band is supporting Dropkick Murphys on all of their mainland Europe shows. I wonder who'll be the support act for Glasgow, Dublin and Belfast.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
