The "Things Glued to Cars" posts are always amusing...

Going to the grocery store is hardly a fashion show for me, though I do usually put on daytime clothes if I'm in my pajamas. I don't fault anyone for deciding not to go to Walmart dressed to the nines.

I agree that the messy pleats do make his kilt look more like a gathered skirt.

But really who cares? It's Walmart, not Milan.

Personally, I enjoy parading my husband around Walmart and everywhere else when he's in a kilt.

There are a lot of rude comments on that page... but one thing I've noticed is that a huge number of them have extremely negative feedback (the thumbs up or down rating doohickey). At best, they're typically right around 50% thumbs up and 50% thumbs down.

The educational or complimentary comments are almost to a person thumbs up ratings in comparison.

I think that statement pretty much exemplifies the reason that people today dress so much more casually (and let's face it: sloppily) than they used to. It used to be that the average person would put on clean, presentable clothes and attempt to look decent in public before leaving the house. That was what society expected.

At some point, people started going more casual in their dress. Then they got more casual in their grooming. Some of it may have been the rebellion of the '60s (it was downright shocking that women were going bra-less!). Whatever caused it, or however we got here, here we are. It's no longer surprising to see people wearing pajamas to the store, women with curlers in their hair, and similar manners of dress that used to be considered embarrassing. Personally, I think it's a sad trend. Heck, I can hardly get some of my employees to put on a shirt with a collar before coming to the office!

As long as everybody keeps the "who cares, it's Walmart" attitude, that attitude will gradually spread to everywhere. I wish we could go back to an attitude of, "hey, I'm going out in public; maybe I should make myself presentable". This doesn't mean dressing to the nines, but I think basic grooming and appropriate clothing go a long way.

But that's just me. If I can help it, I'd always rather be over-dressed than under-dressed. I'm not trying to be critical of anyone or rude, so I hope my comments aren't taken that way. There is wisdom in those old ZZ Top song lyrics, "every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man."

That was pretty much all that I thought when looking at the picture. I wonder how many of the negative post wear the torn pants that hang below the cheeks?

Probably at least 80 percent of them. I think that the only funny things on that website is the funny cars that some people drive, but aside from that it's just cruelty and intolerance perpetrated by a mob mentality.

I didn't see a man in a kilt. What he was wearing was irrelevant. It was how he was wearing it. His total overall look gives the appearance of being unkempt and slovenly. And basically, that's all that matters to me. After all, I grew up seeing my mother pair pink and red together all the time as she has trouble distinguishing shades of red, but she never looked unkempt or slovenly doing it.

Ya know... I've been saying the same thing for years. When I go out, it's NEVER in my pijamas! I mean, seriously- how the hell do people get the idea that that's a good thing?!?! And that's just the tip of it all... It's not just PJ's- it's a complete and utter lack of anything even resembling dignity. Ah well...
