    A touching story Alex; I'm glad you have felt comfortable in sharing it. Perhaps it may not be so very different from the stories that might be told of so many of our families who left so long ago that the all knowledge of them is long gone.

    Do you know Thistledown perhaps? He bounces between the two countries (B.C. and Inverness shire) somehow, though he posted recently that he is still trying to get out of his driveway in the Highlands for holidays in the south, so he may not be answering emails.

    Do you know Thistledown perhaps?
    I have been to British Columbia and I believe Thistledown was at the Edinburgh gathering last year but so far our paths have not met.

    So true!
    The Scots in our family came to Canada via my mum, who's family, the Pattersons lived in England for a couple of generations. She married my dad who's family is from Dorset or Hampshire depending on who you ask, and I'm the first of the first generation Pounds over her.
