I would love to have a black Freelander, with a green gusset, and the Midgard Serpant pewter badge. I wish I could afford it, oh well, maybe when I'm older, and I've never seen one in person.

There are a few sporrans in that collection that I would wear, and a few of the sporran-bags, too. I like the shapes more than some of the colors. I am also fairly sure that I am not in the age bracket that the designer has in mind for customers, but I wore some clothes when I was young that my parents hated. They were even right about some of them.

Sporran Nation looks like fun, though not really aimed at old guys like me
Being a cheapskate myself, I think many of the "cheapskate sporrans" shown by TDC could be improved by judicious tweaking. The mass marketers (and their imitators) tend to be afraid to apply even a little edgy Good Taste. I read somewhere that every recipe in a big fat Vegetarian cookbook sounded good, but that they all sounded better with a little bacon added. You can apply this principle to the cheapskate sporrans. Better tassels, contrasting tassels, little things, can rescue these guys and sporran wearers whose ideas exceed their skills can do a lot to redeem these. I had a black rabbit fur one with black tassels and a white one with white tassels. Presto-change-oh and they both looked better, if slightly reminiscent of Oreo cookies.
As for the soft leather pouches, I agree - they are not what I want dangling outside of my kilt.

I for one am quite surprised (though I don't know why) that there is such a WIDE taste on sporrans and what we like and don't like. I just kind of took for granted that 'a sporran is a sporran' until recently with my collaboration with Donnie and a few other sporran design 'tweeks' I have coming down the pipeline.
I guess it kind of holds true from kilts over to sporrans... different opinions on what we like... both in budget and style (taste)!

I never realised the joys of certain models of sporran until recently.
I now love goat and horse hair civilian sporrans for formal wear and a striking contemporary sporran for day-wear! You could say I like to be a little different...!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Design tweeks, ye say? Tell me more!
I myself rather like the chrome latch model, and the clock button model on the sporran nation website. I wonder if that wee time piece is functional?

At the risk of veering off topic, I'll just say this... I'll announce it in our section when we're ready to roll them all out.

I see we have over 2,000 members and 300 plus have visited today. I expect I am likely to offend one in 300 people I come into contact with, one way or another. Sorry for that. However, I do not mean to be insulting to anyone, especially someone who manages to make things and make money from selling them. I am in no position to criticize another man's work. I still prefer other styles of sporrans, though.
Hoping all are warm, but not hot under the collar.

Todd I really do see your point, I understand entirely what you are saying, there have been many times when people on here have not exactly liked some of my work, but they said what they thought , and I just accept that that is ok . I wouldn't want to live in a completled cushioned world, the comments of other make me and other craftmen appraise what they do , and it is often really valuble making me question things I do, whether I change them or not , that is up to me.
If any of us sell our personal work, part of the "rub" is that not everyone wants it.
Diplomacy is one thing, being honest amongst fellow kilt members is another.

Again, I am sorry if spoke in haste. I apologize to Paul for not respecting his opinion. I see what you are saying Paul, and your absolutely correct. I a big supporter of David and his sporrans, and I let my enthusiasm for his product get the best of my own diplomacy. That was wrong. David's work needs no defence, and people are entitled to their own opinions.
