My university (York) had two Burns night celebrations on the same date and yet somehow managed to coordinate their times to not overlap. This was my first time celebrating and it was great to do it with a double!
I started the evening off at Stong College with a smaller group gathered for a talk on Burns' life, readings from several of his poems, whisky, and a mini-haggis.

Then it was over to McLauglin for a larger event complete with a poetry contest, bagpipes, more whisky, and a huge haggis. They even assembled all the people in kilts to make a piped-in entrance to our seats of honor and we got free drinks. Now that's my kind of party!
