Personally, I think cream hose look good with certain tartans, but otherwise look very "standard", but not traditional... relating back to thew points that people made about kilt hire shops.
If you're happy with them, wear them - but dark green hose would look great with your kilt!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

    Say what, indeed!

    Right on, RiverKilt!
Now, that's what I like, red rock country and kilt. Makes me homesick for Southern UT and Northern AZ.
Wear your outfit (kilt and hose and such), don't worry about what others think or say.

I dyed my white hose with tea, and got a great, medium brown color as a result. I just set a big pot of water to boil, threw in about 10 tea bags, and when the tea was good and dark, the socks. Pull them out when they look darker than what you want, rinse well with cold water, and that's it...!

    The good news is

The good news is that every sweater and most shirts you own are perfectly suited to wear with a kilt- maybe even YOUR kilt. As for socks, you have heard enough to form your own well-informed opinion. I'd start researching a jacket next...
