Both pleatings are very nice. At first I thought the first one was the best, but after looking at the pics for a while I would go for the second as Matt recomends.

Congratulations, Terry, on the new kilt (and the jones!).
Personally I find that Matt’s recommendation makes for a stronger appearance – mostly red around the back, with the other colours revealing in the stride.
But either way, it will be a marvellous-looking kilt.

Mike

However, if you did not have a preference, left to me I'd pleat to the second option; as I said in my email it does present a cleaner look
I've kept going back & forth on that question Matt, but having the night to think it over, I think I'll go with....(drum roll please)....option #2 - the lighter, red field ![Cool](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
...p.s. - Matt, I'll get the re-measurements off to you later today, I have to first take my daughter to the doctors (nasty head & throat cold).
Thanks again everyone!

Without trying to complicate things but no doubt I will. Sorry! What would it look like pleated to the sett? Is it possible with that tartan and box pleats?

However the kilt is pleated, it's going to look really nice.
Matt, would it be possible to pleat this tartan the same way you did my MacDougall?

Here's the front of the kilt, showing just how wide the sett is. Your tartan might not work for this pleat style.

I made myself a Keppoch box pleated kilt to the sett but the pleats are quite wide (3.5") and overlap underneath somewhat as well. I like it though.

Well, if Matt would be kind enough to pin it up and send photos, I'd like to see it, just for comparisons sake if nothing else
