What is Traditional Highland Dress?

It's nice to have a model in traditional attire, and I had fun trying to copy a few of the gentlemen I admire...

Looking just the ticket there Robert. Although another year or two of polishing by your footman, may be required for those very smart shoes of yours, if you want to keep up with HRH!

Most shoes sold today in France are made of dull leather ... a pity really. They shimmer instead of shine.
Perhaps yes... with a few years of buffing, if they last that long, may I be able the leather some reflects.
Perhaps would it be wiser for me just to buy new shoes when go out of France.

Exactly. And I am by no means, looking for praise by posting photos of me in Highland attire on XMTS. I am enthusiastic and excited about sharing how I wear Highland dress, just as the next guy on here. Thanks for your comments.

Quite right Jock. Then again, that can be a very subjective statement, depending upon the particular Highland Scot in question. I do understand what you are saying and again, I concur. I'd like to get back on topic.

So why put the cutoff at the 80s? Were the 80s really so bad, that even kilts were affected?

HRH's style looks "traditional" to my eye, but with changes that reflect the constant evolution of style. If you look through the entire thread (like we're stalking the poor guy

) dedicated to his manner of kilted dress, you'll see that the changes over the years are very subtle, but just looking around the vendor selection, I'd say that his attire is on the leading edge of classic style.
