In the near future I hope to add the Glencoe MacDonald (just because I like it ) & I'm thinking of the standard MacDonald in Wilson of Bannockburn colours (I'm waiting to see a sample on that one first).

Yes, that the title Clanranald of Lochaber refers to MacDonald of Keppoch. It's totally different fellow named Ranald though. Still 'cousins' ... so it would seem.

As well you should, and the Keppoch tartan has all the majesty of MacDonald Lord of the Isles Red or MacDonald of Sleat. That'll be two wonderful kilts whne you do get it.

One day (when I can afford it) I'd like to participate in the Clan Donald DNA project. Seems some MacReynolds are of a Gaelic/Irish branch, while those of my McReynolds/MacRanalds are of the Norse branch. Interesting.
I wonder if the Norse branch are at all descended from Somerled? If I recall correctly, in the Clans of Scotland: MacDonald episode I posted, Paul Murton stated that 1 in 4 MacDonalds can claim genetic descent from Somerled.
