I agree with Whidbey78. Stay there as long as you possibly can! Everywhere else you go will pale in comparism.
I'm not sure what kilt makers are out your way. Higgins, from Kansas are very well known, will gladly work with you, can provide the Udzell kilt in 13 ounce (normal weight of a kilt), which is the unofficial Navy kilt, and has an excellent reputation. Be very, very wary of buying one from overseas. Because it's a completed garment, hidden import fees will definitely bite you.
Near the camping area of the base, is the momument to Charlie "Tuna" Turner and his pilot still there? Some day I wish to make a pilgrimadge to it and play the pipes in respect for an officer whom I respected and miss.
