Actually, I have e-mailed campus police and they follow texas laws. 5 1/2 inches. Thankfully, the handle sticks out, clasifying it as not concealed. But yeah. Thanks. I am very careful.
My knife finally came in handy today. A girl asked for a pencil sharpener before the test becasue we use scantrons and need pencils. No one had one. I offered to use my knife and it worked great. Her pencils were in no condition to be used for a test, that was for sure. One Kid (Who is an idiot period, and who also thinks my "dress" looks gay.) asked if it was a weapon. I replied no, technically it is not. He never said anything else. I was useing it properly. Had a dozen people who could testify what I was doing.
Yep. Thats my little bunny trail. That is basically all a sgian Dubh would be used for for me. Plus, many people have to remember, this is in a good part of Texas where knives are common. I am not in teh country, but Knives are knives. Cops are lax here about them. I need to stop now and go to bed.

Sorry typo 5.5" is the legal limit. Good idea to contact the campus PD, may avoid a few headaches that way. The manner in which you wear or use the knife will determine how much attention you may recieve from LE. I am familiar with TX LE so I know there are a few out there that consider it as a concealed weapon and have convictions and judges to back them up. All depends on what the actor was doing at the time they drew attention to themselves. Some were drunk, some got in fights and would have been a simple plea except they had a weapon on them. Of course I always tend to be cautious.

Might also carry my folder when kilted, but it depends on the pocket situation that day.

I don't know that we disagree all that much, really. What looks off about wearing hose with a UK is the cut of the UK- the low waist and below the knee cut are what seem unconducive to kilt hose wearing, to my eye. If someone wears a contempokilt that stops at or above the knee, and has at least a little rise, to me it looks fine.

I guess we don't disagree at all.

Ditto...I carry a Cold Steel TiLite folder on a everyday regular basis (it was my back-up weapon when doing security work).
Cold Steel also has their own version of a sgian dubh called the Brave Heart. It's made of AUS 8A Stainless steel.
On their site it retails for about $74, but I have seen them go on eBay & discount sites for around the $40 to $50.

It's a good knife. I find it a little large to carry in my sock. The reason I didn't mention it is it that it is more expensive than the OP's desired price point.

Hmm, somehow I missed that he was wearing the UK. I don't think the Lewis hose would be right, and forget about a traditional sgian dubh.
Sorry.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Hahaha, yeah, I would still like to have one with it, but for now I will skip on it. I like to carry several knives on me almost everywhere.
My current pair of hoses are black, so with the black kilt, they look good. For warm weather, i wear long hiking socks which go over my boots a couple of inches.

USAKilts has great hose for $20.00. Usually I order a size down. I'd normally go with a large but go, instead, to a medium. If I stick with the correct size, they tend to be too big. Just me, though.
As mentioned on previous posts, it's gonna be hard to get a decent sgian dubh for $40.00. You'll probably want a day sign, by the way; to be had for around $60.00 and up! Good luck with your decision!
