Hi, AHD, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
I am sorry to learn of your wife’s untimely death, but I look forward to seeing the tartan in her honour. It is a fine way to memorialise her.
    Regards,
    Mike

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have taken the advice given by several and contacted Matt at the Tartan Museum. I am still awaiting the official word on my designs registration status, but am confident about hearing back soon. As soon as it is official I will certainly post an image and description so you can all see the tartan and know more about it and my wife.
Upon Matt's suggestions I will most likely have the fabric woven in Scotland and go from there. My initial concerns included color specifics and thread count, but I have been assured that all of this can be done to perfect specifications by the master weavers in Scotland with just a simple meeting or phone call with Matt as intermediary.
Thank you also for kind regards relating to the loss of my wife. It has been just 3 years, but the most difficult I could imagine. The thought of getting this done in her honor makes me happy again. I wore my kilt (Ancient Hunter tartan) at our wedding, and would love to have a new one in a tartan made especially in her memory.
And a special note for GaRebel211...from a Dawg in Alabama...Gooooo Dawgs! Sic 'em!! GATA!
    Thanks again everyone!

Well, today is a good day. This morning I received my response from the Scottish Register of Tartans and sent in my registration fee immediately online. I am very pleased to announce that they have accepted and registered my memorial tartan designed for my late wife Julie. It is called Cahaba Memorial and is registration number 10324. Their online depiction of the tartan is a bit skewed due to them not differentiating between shades of a color, but you can get the general picture. The next step is to contact Matt at the Tartan Museum and get his help in having kilt quality fabric woven. Thanks to you all so much for your kind words, advice and support!

Please also see my new avatar image. This is a much better representation of the true colors in Cahaba Memorial!
