He wasn't nearly as cheesy as the OCC clowns.

Well, to go back even farther in his TV history, He played the part of "Snapper" on The Young and the Restless. That was in the 70's. Oh, My mother told me about the show.

Yeah!!!
And his music is definitely not anywhere near as good as the Bay City Rollers. (reference to the movie, "So I married and Ax Murder").
Honestly, I don't know if what he did and said was taken out of context, and he was just trying to be funny. It sounds like that is the case, and he over did it. If he had used only one of those jokes instead of 3 or 4, perhaps it would have been more tasteful. I can see why people are offended, and I understand. I also have to say, judge slowly. One day, we may be calling him a comic genius. It took Rodney Dangerfield two tries before he got any respect. After his first attempt at being a comedian failed, he sold aluminum siding for many years. Then he got the courage to try again. He then spent the rest of his career helping struggling comics get their start. Even Seinfeld started at Rodney's comedy clubs. The Hoff has had many rebirths of his career. He also seems to have a good sense of humor about his mis-steps, and takes the shots at him in stride. All I am saying, is he may be trying something else.
I am not trying to defend him, so much as I am playing devil's advocate, because I honestly feel someone has to. Even though I am mostly of German heritage, I do not own any of his albums.
