After suggesting a sky blue velvet for your doublet, my mind got thinking (which is always dangerous when I'm awake most of the night ).
I KNEW I'd seen it somewhere... around 0340 this morning it finally occurred to me.
It's not a Montrose, but there you go.
Personally I'd aim for the Claret.

White kilts or doublets
May the wearer encounter a party of over-excited 8-year olds eating chocolate ice cream...
The white doublet with the red turnbacks made me think of Nazi dress uniforms.
Goering had an all-white uniform - may I remind readers that he was immensely fat and a heroin addict.
Seriously - Look at Ancienne Alliance - He shows what can be done with a doublet, if the black and white look does not appeal. There are so many options available that are more practical than white. And the point about Highland formal functions mostly happening in the fall or winter is a good one - white really says 'summer'.

If red and white is all it takes to remind you of Nazis, that's your problem, not mine.

And the point still stands... I doubt many Nazis had kilts on. Does anyone in anything white remind you of Nazis? White uniforms aren't exactly something only they did, and if you'll notice, you're the only one in here drawing such a comparison. Kindly stop it.

Neat.

Seriously - read the thread - there's plenty of discussion here on colors other than white, and I've talked about trying a couple of them at least. No more need for Nazi talk or kids with chocolate, which would ruin ANY color doublet... not just white.

Well, maybe in Canada and the US. Almost all of the major Highland balls in Scotland are in the summer or fall.
