Meh, no different than that Absolute ad that showed Mexico occupying most of the SW US. It is playing up to the local market at the expense of a remote one. I can see where they are trying to feminize scotch whisky and masculinize their fermented sugar water, but certainly no lover of scotch is gonna be swayed by the ad, so it is really just about making rum drinkers feel less small when surrounded by whisky drinkers

Somewhat sideways to the issue, but IMHO in many cultures women will frequently and willingly wear trousers, but to dance they prefer dresses or skirts.

Steady, mate -- I drink rum and whisky -- not together, of course.

I'm in total agreement that the advertisement was over the top, but making fun of an entire nation, especially when those making fun wear the national dress of another country, is a bit much for me. Again, we're a' Jock Tamson's Bairns.

I don't see the big deal, the only thing that this ad accomplishes is making the rum producer look foolish.
Seems like a strange tactic to me. Some ideas sound better in the boardroom than they turn out in print. I'm sure that they were trying to have their cheek full of tongue, but I think that they missed.
Water off my pleats as far as I'm concerned.
