I will lower my head in timely thought, raise my glass in salute, and whistle a tune in honor.

Remember we are all with you Alex.

I have never been married or partnered but I lost my Dad in July and I am still dealing with that loss. How much more must Alex fee the loss of Ann, his beloved life partner.

I will be happy to raise a glass in her memory this evening.

Anita and I raised a glass tonight in quiet remembrance of a beautiful lady and a day well spent.

(I also did raise the pipes for a few tunes, but she or anyone else who heard would probably have been mostly amused.)

    A' the best, Alex,
    Dan

Thankyou all for all your tributes to Ann.
She received a fitting send off yesterday, a church service in Hawick attended by around 50 of her friends, at the end the organist struck up Robert Burns' "Ae fond kiss and then we sever" as her coffin was carried out of church.
Then to Glasgow for a committal to cremation, attended by 17 of her family and friends, her ashes will be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at the Lynn Crematorium in Glasgow where her parents' ashes were scattered. There is a Memorial Bench there in name of her parents and I will have a new plaque made to add Ann's name below theirs.
Finally I treated those who came to the crematorium to a buffet lunch in a nearby hotel.
I wore Ann's tartan throughout, the 8-yard kilt in McConnell tartan which was the final present which she bought me last year.

A glass of Talisker was raised in Ann's honour up in Fort St. John, British Columbia.

I'm glad you gave her a worthy send off, Alex.
I've a fair few family members who had their ashes scattered there. And others buried nearby.
    I hope you're doing O.K, man.

Thanks Barb, that was so appropriate, we sang Amazing Grace at the crematorium.

I played "Caillin mo' Ruinsa" (Maid I adore), and "Sleep, Dearie, Sleep", and lifted a dram of McClelland's Lowland Single Malt in her memory. May your memories bring you comfort.
