The photo that I posted is a tight crop of one of the photos that Dave took. All of his photos actually have all the members of the band right to the bottom of the steps, so, if you can find out where your brother-in-law was standing on the steps, let me know, and Dave can do a different crop that shows your brother (if he's not already in the posted pic). Just PM me, and I'll email you a photo.

That's quite an honor and it's great that you could be there to see and record it (well, visually anyway!). The "small world" stories are intriguing as well.

I'll have to ask her for the full list. The ones I remember for sure are Minstrel Boy and Wearing of the Green. They played others, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
When they played at the White House, they played outside under the portico as guests were arriving for the dinner. They played for about an hour, and they alternated between a band tune and a solo, band tune, solo, etc. Carolyn played Pipe Major Donald MacLean of Lewis (one of my all-time favs, no doubt) for her solo.

I love this thread! Barb, congratulations to you and Carolyn. You must be very proud. Those pipes must be something else! Thanks for posting the pictures.
