Thank you! The next one I make is going to be lines with a half and half mix of pitch and bee's wax, and I think I know how to make the tooling better. I'm going to use barley instead of sand, and I'll pack it tighter to make it bigger, and... Well, I have all kinds of ideas!!

Nighthawk a fine job done on the flask! I think it's especially cool that you did it to remember your lost friend.
I didn't have a father growing up but a few people did step in as father figures. One of them died two years ago. We used to sit out by his campfire and sip really nice tequilla and cook up the fish he caught that day. (he was a avid outdoorsman)
Every year on the day he died I have a small glass of tequilla out of a bottle that is reserved for that occasion and cook up some fish that I caught that morning.
It's always nice to look back on those who ment a lot to us and remember them. It's even better to do something to honor their memory.
Let YOUR utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt, so as to know how you ought to give an answer to each one.

I think that this year, when I go to the Elizabeth Celtic Festival, I'm going to take along a flask full of Irish Mist just for that reason. Irish Mist and mead were his drinks of choice. Last year before the festival, I was at his house working on a project with him. He filled my flask with Irish Mist and sent me on my way. I got home that Sunday to find the email from his sister. He had stopped doing the festivals the summer before due to health problems, but none of us- except maybe him- realized how bad things were getting. He was a Viking reenactor, and had made himself a magnificent horn that he kept hung up in his work room. His sister gave it to me, and it now graces my work room!
