Thanks for the 'catalogue' of fear inducing poses and implements. Priceless!

But why stop there? Depending on your mood when the picture's taken, you might use something else to add that personal touch! Like your favorite drinking vessel...

    Oh my goodness!!!
I found out today that I didn't get the job I have been interviewing for over the past few weeks. Dispite that I laughed myself out of a bad mood. Thanks Ryan! I knew I liked you!

Oh I wish my wife would understand this joke.

EDIT: The bracer pictured above is a wonderful creation of the OP himself, featuring artwork by my sweetheart, Abigail.

Oh wow, those are great pictures. Can I... ahem... borrow them? Not to toot my horn or nothin'... but I am particularly proud of that bracer.

I didn't make any posts about this particular piece. It was a special deal between Ryan and I, and I thought I would let Ryan make the post whenever he was ready.

So- about the picture... After numerous attempts, I failed to get a good, stern one. I was close- and then my daughter stuck her hand in the way and grabbed my face right as the picture was shot! So I have a lot of attempts... which have to count for something. I'll post them when I get home.

Aye, they do. I asked Abigail if she'd make her serpent's head match the one you did on my horn (her original one was based on historical art, but with her own spin- she had the snake smiling!!!).

I hope you don't mind, good sir.

I'm sorry to hear about that, my friend, but I'm certain you'll snag the next one. In the mean while, I'm glad you got a chuckle over my hammy pics.

I'm particularly proud of that bracer as well, Travis! And I'd be honored if you'd use those pictures.

It's great, isn't it? And it's super stout, too. A serious piece of gear.

I'm looking forward to seeing your rendition!

...and back on the subject of a "blank face" for martial arts, I think I'm simply incapable of not looking a bit stern, even when my face truly is completely relaxed:

For "The Pose" though, it's really more about camera angle (or the angle of one's face, I guess) than facial tension. I take my lead from Go Rin No Sho- Musashi liked to furrow his brow, as I recall, but also mentioned lowering one's chin...a good idea, anyway.

    ...I love comedic overanalyzation.

    That was the money shot!

And you will have your bonnet in hand soon, sir, should you want to try out the remote pose. ith:

    OK! A few tries.

    Failed attempts!

We were in the gondola to the top of the mountain and one of my children became... well... volcanic.

    My daughter grabbed my face...

At the top of the mountain!

...and I finally got the good one, shot by my daughter!
