In the heat I usually have a hard ice tea or mix a Rusty Nail with extra ice and a little on the sweeter side. But that's just for the days when I don't have to go anywhere else.

Normally, I am not a mixed drink fan (beer and whiskey are preferred), but my neighbor makes something called Maine Lemonade. Fresh blueberries mashed into the bottom of a glass, add ice, and lemonade, add vodka. Dangerous.

Laphroaig straight up with just a splash. I order a water back as a concession to the weather.

The Mrs. and I are off alcohol for a while, so last night I made shakes with blackberries, frozen bananas and coconut milk (the carton kind, not the canned stuff). They were extra tasty, and purple, too!

Last night I had such an amazing Gimlet. Plymouth, of course, and always fresh juice. That really helped to cut the heat AND the scurvy!

Yeah my addition is a tequila gimlet. Use a high end silver/blanco tequila like Casa Noble and fresh lime juice maybe a touch of agave nectar and ice. Oh so good. It's like a margarita martini.

actually, if you add a dash of cointreau (which the agave is probably doing duty for), it's a real margarita.

That's true. Sometimes I'll switch it up and go Grand Marnier. I am a tequila freak so I have had many tequila drinks.

Oh and another summer fav Called La Paloma pour a nice big shot (1.5 to 2oz) of silver tequila and then a can of grapefruit soda. I like the more bitter grapefruit soda and then a slice of lime squeezed out into it and dropped in (think corona).

And I just had mead for the first time the other day and I thought it was great. Very refreshing.
