Material is not going to be available though for a couple of months so I have a chance still to change my mind on the tartan choice. Before deciding, do you know how the Heritage MacDougall compares to the MacDougall Ancient. I ask because I have 4 1/2 yards (16 oz) of the latter that I plan to have made into a simple box-pleated kilt. If they are fairly close (from the pics they look like they might be) I will probably stay with my current choice but if they are quite different then 1 x Heritage and 1 x Ancient might be just the ticket. I can already hear some of the rabble saying why not three kilts? Lets just say, 1 is already straining marital financial harmony, 2 will really put my negotiating skills to the test but 3 would lead to certain and permanent strike/lock-out on the home front. Cheers,
Peter McDougall
PS. What colour are the hose that Robin is wearing in the pic?
The Heritage and Ancient shades are quite different.

I didn't see Madam Morag MacDougall in the pictures. Has there been a change in leadership of the Clan?

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Another thank you - seeing the two side by side is a real help. I have emailed info@dunollie.org to inquire but perhaps you know - is it 16 oz?

No change. It's just the Madam MacDougall wasn't wearing the revived sett, other that in her very fine bonnet.

13 oz at present but I think that they plan to offer 16 oz too.

Peter in the new issue of Scottish Life w/ MacDougall Tartan
I missed this thread when it was first posted as I was offline during that time period...

That sure is a wonderful looking tartan, Peter!
It wasn't until I picked up the current Winter 2011 issue of Scottish Life magazine that I did a search and found this topic had been discussed here...

Unfortunately Peter, I'm unable to open/view this article
Can someone help me to view a copy of this?
The new issue of Scottish Life has a brief article entitled "World's Rarest Tartan Discovered" and features this photo of XMarks own Peter MacDonald (Figheadair) holding the discovered MacDougall tartan:

Re: The Original MacDougall Tartan Revived
I was able to open the PDF document, so I don't know what the issue is to help on your end, BoldHighlander. Although it seems to have a bunch of spaces missing between words and is difficult for me to read; not sure why.
I went to the root directory of the address of that document and looked under Peter's research link for all of his articles. You might try opening it from that page. Here is the link, it's part way down.

Hope it works, and there's a bunch of other articles you will be interested in, as well...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Thanks Ted, I appreciate your assistance. Unfortunately this is the case at the wesite links as well. Its been like this in the past too, I'm not sure why.
I don't recall how or who helped me read the other articles in the past.

You must be using an older version of Acrobat. Go online and download the latest version (it's free) and that should sort out your problems. A simple search will pick up a site offering it.for example: http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Reade...-10000062.html
