    Re: "Ike" Jacket repros, cheap!

My Ike Jacket just arrived. It's cut a little differently from yours, as the buttons do not come quite as high, and the lapels seem wider.

Overall, I'm pleased with the quality. The wool is coarser than I expected. I think I was remembering my grandfather's AAF uniform coat, which had a brushed feel to it. When I ordered the jacket, I was worried that the sleeves would be too long (I wear a 40S, and I had to order a 40R), but they're not too bad. I won't have to rush out to the alterations shop.

The website these are sold through has plenty of description, the pictures are good, and the delivery was fast. Just one thing, to anyone still contemplating, these will need a good pressing right out of the box.

I'll post those in a new thread as soon as the jacket comes back from the cleaners all pressed-up. I'm hopeless with an iron, and I didn't want to take any chances.

SPORTSMAN'S GUIDE has an Italian one in large only, for about $30:

I really like the Ike jacket and think it works well with a kilt, just wish I could find one in a 52.

The link Woodsheal posted above shows Ike jackets in sizes up to "52 XL".

Unfortunately, I think those particular Ike jacket reproductions are a little too long for kilt-wearing. The original Ike jacket came in two lengths. One was very short (about the length of a mess jacket), and the other was longer, like the one at Woodsheal's link. It's the shorter one that works best with a kilt.

Nice jackets. I love the military style, but when did a 48R become XL? Also, they have various tapering to the waist which only adds to the challenge of finding the proper fit...for me anyway.
