Um... lots of kilts are lined in cotton, or a cotton blend. (I line the kilts I make with silk). I've never, however, heard of anyone using wool as a lining material for kilts.

I'm with Matt here, my kilts are lined with cotton, or linen or silk, always with a natural fibre never a synthetic as the natural fibres breathe much better ,lining a kilt with wool seems a strange idea, but I wouldn't say it's never been done, but I can't imagine many traditional kiltmakers using it.

Thanks. I just got excited of the prospect of being able to get an affordable kilt in Kerr

Ditto what PH and Matt said. I've lined kilts with cotton and I've lined them with linen, but never with wool. Now, I will agree some cotton lining I've seen is WAY too thin and DOES disintegrate over time and you can tell it's "the cheapest cotton to be found". The lining USAK uses is roughly 6.5 oz cotton, which is pretty heavy. I've found it gives a 'sturdier' feel to the lining and it actually helps to keep the apron a bit flatter (along with the horsehair canvas).
