Thanks tulloch, by the way a slight variation of your name: Tollak, used to very common in southern Norway up until the 20 th century, so you might be on to something there.

So am I, how are you related to them? Maybe we are somehow related as well.

Thanks McClef, I've always prefered kilts over bunads but have never got myself into getting one as I've felt one have to at least have some sort of connection to the culture and history that surrounds it to wear the kilt (Which I now have thanks to the old folks in my familly who cared for their history and wrote lots of it down).

The bunads are way overpriced and seems to me to be less historical than many of the tartans available (I believe that the oldest designs dates back to the end of the 19th century).

The main difference between bunads and kilts (from my perspective and humble knowledge) is that while there are several categories of kilts (District, Clan, Corporate etc.), there are only one category of bunads, the district bunads. We don't even have a national bunad for the whole country that everyone can wear like your royal Stewart tartan, being so expensive they are no longer something that your average joe (or Johnny in this case) can afford and have gone from being an everyman item to something only the chosen few can afford.
