I think we have a smaller version, but I'm not sure. This is the snail bike from the yard:
Way too big.
Collective creativity.
JB Weld....then gears.
Got me the idea. Little parts n pieces. The first thing that came to mind is a compression release lever:

Just the lever itself.
Maybe little bits from carbs, etc:

Artfully arranged with JB weld.
What a cool idea.

Re: Girl question
Are you a "traditionalist?" and really, if you are in America.... Who cares? I'm finally going to be making my own "man's kilt" as soon as I decide on the tartan. The reason why I didn't do it before now is that I lost a ton of weight and was waiting for my waistline to stabilize. If I stay away from the dark chocolate, I'll be okay now! lol
If you feel comfortable, go for it. I have made lots of kilts for women who are athletes, pipers or drummers or dancers; I've made 8 yard kilts with the aprons reversed so that the fringed edge is on the left
Remember, a man is always RIGHT (the fringe is on the right)
But it's LEFT up to the woman to get it done correctly!
It's up to you and how you feel.
I actually prefer the apearance of the deeper pleated kilt. I do a lot of sitting and if I sit too long in one of those shallow-pleated kilt skirts, the pleats press themselves out and I walk away looking like I have really big pillow under my kilt. Not flattering at all.
Cheers

Sort of yes, sort of no. I spend a lot of time around what you could describe as vintage motorcycle traditionalists. I understand the nuance, if you will....of traditionalists. I always like to know what the "rules" are....but that doesn't necessarily mean that I am going to adhear to them.
Throughout history, there have been cross dressing women. Joan of Arc comes to mind instantly. So, is it completely outside of tradition and pure historical fact that there could have been a woman in a kilt? Yes, of course. Common? No. But it did happen.
Speaking of Hodakas, I have a new pair of tank badges (somewhere) for a resto project Hodie that's been laying in wait at a friend's house. Well, he was bored, so he dug into the project. I wanted to paint it metal flake green. He knew this. Would it have been common during that era to have a green metal flake painted bike? No, not at all. Plausable? Yes, because metal flake was popular (but not on dirt bikes, generally)....and being silly "pimping out" (for lack of a better description)a trail/pit bike very possibly could have included metal flake paint.
Late 60s/early 70s era....yes, possible, though not common.
1930s era bike? No, they didn't have the technology.
Thanks for the tip on the deep pleats. That'll come in handy when I make the leap and make a kilt myself.

Re: Girl question
My fathers pit bike was metal flake blue and i'm pretty sure it came in 2 other colors, orange and green. I actually still have it. I don't use it the pits though, I have my own pit bike (has a little more juice) to scream around the pits before the next race...

Case and point.
Funkadelic was popular for a while.
"Shamrock".....oh, you've got to have *half* a clue what an evening might bring.
There will be drinking, but it's more of an old dude thing (hopefully) lots of old stories from back in the day, etc....in other words, theatrical flair is not warrented. At all.
But a bit of humor isn't out of the question, either. i.e. beer goggles on a top hat.
Though, I won't walk in the door like that.
Segway:
"Pure" Scottish trials. A great kilt, is the answer, I believe. Is there a great kilt "expert" on this forum? I want to know if anyone has experimented with sewing perminent deep pleats in a great kilt and attached belt loops?

Little airline bottle of Bailey's would be a crack up. I have several. The only problem is they are full.....oh, wait....there's a solution to that, huh?
I'm into 6th scale....so there's a bazillion possibilities there, too.

I've been to many old racer parties with my father, there is definitely a lot of drinking, who has the fastest Norton and talks of how us new school guys have it made compared to them...
My father and I would go kilted. A Vanson leathers tshirt and a Hannah Hat.
