Colin good of you to have included the St Patrick's blue, anyone who has been to Áras an Uachtaráin in Phoenix Park, the home of the Irish President, will know the St Patrick blue as it flies on the flag. A kilt in St Patrick's blue is on my wish list. The one pipe band I knew wore it, in San Francisco, now wears the County Wexford Tartan. But there is a pic from the old kilts: http://www.aef16.dial.pipex.com/nl-vol4-no3.pdf
And here's a pic from the web of solid blue kilts:
- Justitia et fortitudo invincibilia sunt
- An t'arm breac dearg
I would like to find a kilt in the St. Patrick's blue. Anyone actually seen them for sale?
St. Patrick's blue can be described as sky blue, which can of course run through a range shades. The one that stands out to me is the one used in the flag of the President of Ireland. Some of our sponsors could easily make a kilt for you in this colour.
Scotweb lists 6 shades of blue worsted wool to choose from but I think a nice blue tweed with a subtle check would also be really nice. For example, something like one of the two shades of "Cairngorm" from Keltoi:
- Justitia et fortitudo invincibilia sunt
- An t'arm breac dearg
