    As it happens I was up at the castle this afternoon, didn't bump into the duke, however I did see a photo of his late father wearing what I suspect could possibly be the same bonnet, that might explain the faded colour, it's not the first time I have heard of a son wearing his late fathers bonnet

    Yes, I have seen various images of the present Duke of Argyll's late father wearing the same Balmoral. I have always suspected that it may be the same bonnet, hence eluding to the reason why it has such a faded and 'worn in' look.
