There is a Portgower just down the A9 road from here. Always sounds a bit Welsh to me.

The countryside around even looks Welsh rather than the north east of Scotland.

That would no doubt be named after the Dukes of Sunderland who had the surname Leveson-Gower.
In Welsh it would be Cas Gŵr.

There is a little town in Carroll County, Maryland that is named Boring. Everything is Boring, even the Fire Department. I have taken the train to Paradise, Pa, traveling through Intercourse. If you have ever watched the Tim Allen/Kirstie Allen movie, For Richer or Poorer, It was filmed in Westminster, Maryland (my home town). The main street was redecorated to look as if it were Intercourse, Pa. Signs were changed and made me quite nervous . I had drivin into town with my wife to get some ice cream after a three day illness, and had to drive down Main Street twice because I could not believe my eyes. I stopped and got out of the car, just stood there like an idiot. Wondering WTH. A city cop (in Westminster uniform) told us to move along as the movie company did not want anyone to take pictures. Just a tidbit.

At first I thought that you meant Dullatur, but then I thought no. So I checked the other side of the motorway and found Ravenswood - no again. What could Jimmy mean, I thought? I was almost going to give up when slap bang in the middle between them I spotted ...
Regards
