Went tonight with my wife a daughter (just graduated from High School). A woman behind us told me 'nice skirt' while in line buying tickets... Great show. Amazing animation. Well beyond anything that we watched as kids. When the lights came up - my daughter shyly waved at those she knew. She was told I'd buy her ticket but that I'd be kilted. She introduced me to her friends that work at the theatre and they thought the kilt looked great and was a very appropriate attire for the movie. All in all - a great evening...

I went with friends last night. All the guys in the group were kilted (5 guys, 3 girls). Because of people arriving late, and a very loud concert outside the theatre, our pre-movie picture only has three of us in it. We had great comment from one family after the movie.
I don't know why my husband has such a grumpy look on his face, or why he is gripping his belt like that. BUT I know the rules about proof, and it is what I have!
Cheers
Chris
I wish I had something funny or profound to put in a signature.

That is a hilarious idea... I don't know WHY we didn't think of that. Of course, people woudl have been saying "nice COSTUME"- but it would have been a good opportunity to educate them. Aside from the cliche jokes about "what's under the kilt?!" it was a very cute movie.

Just back from the European premiere. Neither Craig Feguson or Robbie Coltrane were wearing kilts, but the producer and director of the film were.

Opening weekend I wasn't able to see it (grrr!!) because I was teaching at an annual martial-arts training camp in the Marin Headlands.
Today, though, I finally got to see it -- kilted of course. It was a 1:15 PM matinee so not many people there. But for me the kilt was a matter of course for a weekend day, and I was there to see the movie rather than to be seen.
I thought it was utterly delightful. Good story line with humor, magic, love, danger. Fantastic animation. Great music throughout too, including a couple of songs in Gàidhlig. I may see it again in the theater while it's out, AND buy the DVD to keep when it becomes available.

Hi all, I haven't been on since shortly after registering. I saw this movie was playing at our local small town theater. Obviously I jumped at the chance to wear my Stillwater Irish National We took our 2 year old son and our 11 year old niece. Before we even got out the door my niece asked to have her picture taken with me in my "skirt". (took the opportunity to educate her) My wife had to take a call from her mother and mentioned I was wearing my kilt, she said something to the effect of "aren't you embarrassed of him wearing that?" to which my lovely wife replied that she wasn't and that she didn't mind anymore. SUCCESS! Later in the conversation I heard my wife say "no he doesn't have any bagpipes"...I couldn't help but throw my 2 cents in and reply "Oh yes I do...." ;) Got a good laugh out of her and the MIL.
Went out for a light dinner and took the kids to the park where there were a fair amount of people, got a few looks from some of the young kids, but other than that it was nice, I didn't feel like I was on display...though I wouldn't have minded some positive comments.
Got a few sideways looks from some rural sheeple at the theater, but a group of young girls were overheard saying that it was "awesome".
After the movie was over I had one older lady come over and ask me what clan I was from. I told her I was a McCullough. She replied it was nice to know there were some Scotch-Irish in the area. Made my whole night I don't think she was local, this area has many campers from Philly area, so I assume that's where she was from.
As far as the movie, it wasn't what I'd expected, but it was a really cool movie and the animation was some of the best I've ever seen. If you're on the fence about going, def take the kids and the kilt out for a nice evening show.

We went to a special showing for autistic kids that the theatre does for special needs children. This photo was taken by a very nice lady who puts these together. My son would not pose for the picture, but you can tell he's kilted.
