LOL, Ron - Rocky "owns the candy store" and probably has fewer kilts to rotate wearing with than us addicts.....

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Not true! If I own the candy store, then I'm a pretty fat owner. I have roughly 35 to 40 kilts in the closet right now. As I "outgrow" them or shrink out of them, I sell them up here or in the store as used and purchase more material to make my next one.

So you are saying the store funds, aides and abets your addiction
With 29 of 52 being snap waist Utilikilts I can't grow out or shrink out - they have about zero tolerance - only the leather one due monday has some adjustment. It would trainwreak my Rocky kilt funds that are still recovering from the leather splurge.

Well, another day, another picture. Question for you all, is this acceptable daywear (with brown sporran which I will hopefully find in short time)? Did not want to hijack someone elses thread and not start a new one for now.
Bought a pair of high army boots in brown too, might improve the overall look.

It all works for me. Not sure how well a brown sporran would sit on the Black Watch background. I have to have a mirror or better a picture and try it to decide whether something works or not for me here.

Considering that the day sporrans of the former Black Watch Regiment (now Battalion) were brown, I think a brown sporran would suit your kilt spiffingly.

Will try and find a used brown sporran somewhere. Not so much a fan of the shiny new leather..
Perhaps I can find something here: http://www.ministryoftartan.com/kilts.php

I suspect the original battalion sporrans were of oiled leather to take the beating that sporrans get without a lot of marring. Might handle the shiny problem well.
Thanks Downunder for expanding my knowledge.

That black sporran looks just fine, Sadkingbilly. I wouldn’t worry about its shine – leather is supposed to shine.
That said, a brown one would work just as well.
That style of sporran is what we wore in my regiment – we called it a pooch (well, that is the way pouch is pronounced in Scots). It was issued to other ranks (riflemen [private soldiers] and corporals), while sergeants and upwards had fancy horse-hair sporrans with silver cantles.

Mike

This is how brown leather goes with black watch

To come back to PV kilts, I've got mine from Gold brothers early in 2010 (picture below) and wore it frequently for hiking and walking with my dogs.

No pilling so far. Hand-washed it and dried it flat on some towels - also no problems. I did things with that kilt I would not do with my woolen one.
