Women in Highland regiments?

Chas, that's because it's not a sojer, it's the well known TV presenter Lorraine Kelly. This was part of the Queen's Birthday celebrations at Stirling. Lorraine has an honorary position as Colonel of the Black Watch Batt. ACF.
What this uniform is, I don't know, it's neither ACF nor regular.

Well I think the top half of the picture is charming(apart for that rather untidy new top hole in the sam browne ), sadly the bottom half, seen in another picture, lets the side down rather..

I can attest! I joined the 48th Highlanders of Canada in 1987. Women were not allowed in combat arms, and would either wear their MOC uniform, or if in the band would wear trews. Appropriate as there are distinctly different uniforms for males and females, and the Kilt is not part of that dealio. Women enter the combat arms. I am one of the first instructors to teach a GMT course with women going to Infantry. Total meltdown in the way things have been done for hundreds of years. Total meltdown in standards and fitness. Total disaster. I hope it has now worked out for them, and hope they have not generally degraded the standards required of candidates.

No offense to the lassies on this board. Women look terrible in a male pattern kilt. It looks just horrible. Women looked great in trews. Women look great in garb designed for women.
