My wife knit those, as well. She used the "small shepherd's check" pattern from Veronica Gainford's book on kilt hose and knickerbocker stockings.

Those kilt hose are some of neatest I have seen. They look great with those flashes. You are a lucky man Sir to have such a skilled and caring wife. Thanks for the photos.
