I don't mind pointing you to other sources and other vendors at all. The idea is to get you into the kilt you want and need.
I will do in the not so distant future. (Though that might be a couple weeks, were just past the mid-way point of the semester.. term papers.. so many term papers..)

You might take a look at Burnett's & Struth's casual kilt sale. They are offering 4-yard, custom-made kilts in a wide variety of tartans for $199.99. I recently got one in the British Columbia tartan, 16 oz. weight wool, and am very happy with it. This is an inexpensive way to get a real wool, custom-made kilt. I went for this deal because, having lost a substantial amount of weight, I now have four kilts that no longer fit. Since my weight has not yet stabilized, I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money, but needed a kilt for performances at Burns dinners.
I posted this information earlier, but then noticed that the sale was no longer advertised on B & S's website, so deleted the info. For some reason, the sale did not appear on the website for a couple of days, but is now back up.

Neat! Thanks for the FYI, I'm still a ways off from a purchase so I don't know that a sale will do. I'll see what the folks at Freedom can swing in a couple weeks but check out he place you suggest as well.

B&S Run these sales fairly frequently and often announce it on the forum. maybe your finances will coincide with a sale not too far off from now.
I have one of their casuals and it's a nice piece of work.

Yeah, unlike some snobbish traditionalists say, it is not wise to start in the mid-price area at $100+ - let alone duty and import tax, especially if you have to get used to kilt wearing. Made to measure means non-returnable, non-restockable and made to measure is not necessary until you got to that point you are hooked. I started with a HoS PV in Heritage of Scotland tartan. It was comfortable while standing but too tight while sitting. 44" was the right size but for false measurement, the kilt is not to blame and you get what you pay for means you don't be scamed. It was well made and for 34 quid with 30% off, reasonable priced for a starter kilt.
Sport Kilts are great as long as they fit snug and don't overlap at the right edge of the apron, which makes the logo wrinkle up. Adjustability without compromising the look would be great.

Let's not overlook Amerikilt at $109.00---my oldest and my newest kilts are from them and I'm well pleased with them. The more I wear them the more comfortable they get.

There's also UT Kilts. They deal in utility and traditional kilts.
