Just for reference, DC Dalgleish is owned or at least operated by Scotweb , so Scotweb try and feature as many tartans from Dalgleish as possible. The important thing to remember is that most of tartans featured on the Dalgleish site are computer generated and as such are only guides as what it might look like, and shouldn't be taken as a proper reference.

Desertwolf, I did the same - installed "green" circleline FL fixtures everywhere here. Nice for electric bill, but hell on the digital cameras color perception and software. It's why so many of my inside photos include my kitchen in the background - I am using my skylight in the dining room as the main light source. I can back up slightly to blue shift the colors from inclusion of the kitchen FL lamps when needed for the overcast days. Tis easyier here than messing with the camera settings.
I have noticed that the colors really change inperson between outside and inside. My modern SOS is almost colorlessly dark under the inside FL lights. But boy! they really pop when I go outside with it on.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Properly nice! Enjoy! (I have a similar issue with jackets - 42 short's never come up!).

The modern is a great match for my USAK PV! I have noticed this blurring effect too. The blue drops out pretty fast. Here in Albuquerque with full sun at 5600 ft elevation, my blue is vivid. When visiting Baytown, Tx, at sea level, the full sun seems to have less blue (atmospheric filtering?) and the blue stripe looks like your picture. In less than full sunlight or indoors it is pretty much gone most of the time and the purple dominates over the green and black.

That Spirit of Scotland Ancient kilt worn by Bob Worrall in the pic above is gorgeous. I like it so much more than the modern tartan.
I think I am going to ask the owner to forbid any more pics on this site. I can't afford to buy a new kilt every month.

Phil, I agree. I prefer SoS in Ancient colours, too.

When I was ordering a new kilt I was torn between Spirit Of Scotland Modern and Ancient. I got those two big swatches. I viewed them at various distances. I viewed them in various light. I held them up to different jackets. I showed the swatches to several people, asking for their opinions.
In the end, I went with...
