Thanks. This project has got me thinking about my next project. I'm lucky to have a local Tandy leather store 7 miles away, so I've been eyeing what they have for leather on their shelves. It's always nice to be able to see and feel the leather to gauge if it's suitable to use for sporrans. It's amazing the variety of thickness/color/stiffness different leathers come in. I've been able to find small quantities of what I needed in their scrap bin. You just pay by weight no matter what type of leather it is. Otherwise I'd have to buy a whole hide, approximately 20 sq/ft. At $6-$8 per sq/ft it could run into quite a bit of cash, but it would make alot of sporrans!
