Precisely! I really don't see them wearing Highland dress again until they're a wee bit older.

Folks,
As in the "Show us your vintage kilt photos" thread, it seems that some photos posted here are under copyright to the photographer who took them, or the publication they appeared in.
I have today, received a complaint that photos were used without permission or due credit given to the copyright holder.
It seems a very simple thing to give credit where credit is due.
I'm very sorry but this thread is now closed.

One of which I have seen many times before, but still enjoy to look at nonetheless. I'm always amazed at how put together and well turned out HRH looks in his Highland kit, but then again, he always looks quite smart in any sort of attire/uniform for that matter.
..weeeelllll, considering the fact that if one is born into the "right" family, and has tailors, butlers, dressers, etc. etc., and what ( to most of us) is basically an unlimited budget .. it would be more surprising if he wasn't 'well turned out', eh?

Valid point. I have a friend that comes from a very affluent, old (blue-blood) American family that has similar access to an unlimited budget (in his case, a trust fund), as well as to tailors, butlers, dressers, etc, yet he still doesn't give a damn about how he looks or how he presents himself on the social front (think Adam Sandler in the movie, Mr. Deeds), so I think it's all rather subjective. Then again, I tend to believe that there's quite a bit of difference between a rich, American family and that of the British Royal Family. I would argue, simply a different mentality and approach to things, coupled with a huge amount of responsibility on a much grander scale.

AWESOME!!! I have perused Google Images time and time again and haven't seen all but one of the photos in which you discovered, Colin.
Yep, HRH's doublet is definitely green!
The more that I see HRH Prince Charles' Balmoral doublet, the more I really like it. I believe that if you are a relatively fit and trim guy the majority of the time and throughout your life, just as HRH has been and still is, this would be an ideal, go-to doublet for black tie occasions where Highland dress is worn. I have never seen photos of the reverse side of the doublet. I'm quite fond of the length of the flaps, or "tashes" below the leather belt - not too long and not too short and stubby - I think they're just right. I also like how there are no buttons on the cuffs of this particular style of evening doublet, though I think it would still look smart with the addition of buttons in some sort of a traditional arrangement. I am curious about the buttons and would love to see a detailed image of them, if that even exists.
Thanks for sharing, these are outstanding!
Cheers,

Cheers,
Indeed they are outstanding. One thing I hadn't seen/noticed before on this doublet is it's lack of buttons on the cuffs. I really like this.
