As I said in the previous post I've been wearing the kilt every weekend from the first part of November. This includes movies, grocery shopping, book store and even Walmart! Today we did the house cleaning thing and I got rid of all but 3 pairs of pants. 1 for work and the other 2 go with the suits I have. I reserve the right to change my mind later but I have made a commitment to go kilted when and were ever I can. I even mowed last week in one...some funny looks from the neighbors but I don't care. I would wear kilts more to work, other than the 'celebration days', but running network cable in a ceiling on a ladder would draw a few looks!
My advise is to start wearing to places you go often and get them use to seeing you. Then branch out and before you know it you won't even think twice about it.

When I was in San Francisco last month, I wore my kilt all the time for four days. It's so much easier to play an away game, than to play the home game in kilt. I was in a supermarket and the cashier sees the kilt and says to me, you have to wear that next week when "The Passion" opens. Blank stare from me. Because Mel "Braveheart" directed it, she explained. Uh Huh. It was a positive reaction, ergo nice.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?

Erudite, when I wore a kilt to the Passion I didn't even think of that connection, don't know why. But the choice of movie wouldn't really influence my kilt wearing.

I'm quite happy, Bear, honest. I wear it when and where I want to. I'm happy for you in that you DO seem to want to wear a kilt all the time and that you DO IT.
Like I said earlier. My kilt is just another item in my wardrobe, albeit my favourite item.

I won't be kilted. Too close to home. Anyway, the cinema is not the cleanest of places. Knowing my luck, I would sit on someones left over choc ice.

UGGGGHH! How awful Al., but if you will live in the North East......!
I've not been inside a cinema since I went to see "Gladiator" in Brighton, soon after its release several years ago. And who was I with? None other than Mr. Alan Caig himself!
Take care,
Ham.
(PS: I read somewhere today that the spectaular film "Troy" is set for release here in the United Kingdom on 21st May. There'll be plenty of MUGs (There! I've used that dreaded word!) on view in that one.)

Hmm. And after all the flattery I've paid you since we've become acquainted. You'll have to be more careful with the company you keep, bonnie lad. That's 3 northerners you've admitted to knowing - Alan, your pal in Gateshead and er.......oh yes..........ME!!!!
I'm happy to say I've never seen Gladiator, but Troy might be worth a viewing. I'm also waiting for Van Helsing which is right up my street. No kilts of course, but plenty of vamps.

I was merely being stereotypically 'Southern' Al.! I am sure there are just as many choc ices left on cinema seats down here. Actually I love the North and (most of) those who live there. A little known fact: my late partner was a Geordie. He came from Whickham and I'm still in touch with several of his family who live thereabouts. Also, my Godson lives in Durham City - but maybe that's too far South to be classified as North East!!
Yes, I like the look of "Troy", but Vamps. do little for me, I fear!

Ham first of all I'm sorry to hear your partners not with us. I've had experience of losing someone , and the pain felt is indiscribable. Your godson is, I'm sorry to tell you, a monkeyhanger, I'll let Al tell you about that historical malpractice. BTW I've got a single freind called Ian, he lives in Spain.....
Cheers Rhino.
Troy does have the look of an epic. But I like the look of van helsing too.
Ham, I don't mean to marginalise your loss, I read my post and realised it may be misconstrued that way. I lost my wife and can understand how such a loss affects everything thereafter.

Ham. I KNOW you were, and I know you know I wasn't getting at you! I've learnt something as I hadn't realised that it was your late partner's family who were from Gateshead. We talked about folk you knew in Gateshead but I didn't make the connection.
Durham City and Co. Durham are most definitely classed as North East. Don't believe Roger Whittacker who thinks Ol' Durham Town is on the Tyne. It's on the Wear. I, of cours, come from Darlington, which is just South of Durham City and is on the Tees. All of this is part of the old Northumbria which spreads up as far as Berwick Upon Tweed and the Scottish Borders.

Ged. BAD BOY!! EVERYONE knows they hung the monkey in Hartlepool, not Durham!!!!
Apparently, when Britain was at war with France, a French frigate was captured/shipwrecked off the coast of Hartlepool. On board was the Captain's pet monkey, who the Hartlepudlians thought was a french spy. They tortured it but it wouldn't speak, so they hung it.
