Well, as I hinted, with Steve's permission, I kept the Quaich a bit longer than usual so that it could do something it had never done until now: It attended a wedding and was used at the head table of the reception for the bride & groom to toast one another.

This was a special wedding to the Rabble, because the groom's kilt & kit were sponsored by generous XMarkers. Others also made extremely kind offers which didn't quite pan out, but the love from the Rabble is something that this couple knows about. That story is told in part at this link: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...n-duart-79751/

A few pictures from the wedding:

That was worth the wait FB, good one. It's great to see the happy ending to that story. Cetainly an event that is most worthy of the quaichs attendance.

Great pictures of the quaich at it's first wedding! Was the groom in a hurry for the wedding to end (his cool "brogues")?

I too wondered about the footwear, but I'm sure that he'll be able to move faster than the bride in her polka-dot high-heeled pumps, so maybe he was thinking clearly on that issue!

    Very clearly

When all is said and done, and from the looks of the photos, all was said and done . . . we need to stop just a few moments and thank Father Bill for bringing this delightful story to us. I think it very fitting that the quaich starts its next voyage as these two young people begin the voyage of their lives together. From first post, to latest picture Father Bill has given us all the opportunity to look over his shoulder as the wedding approached, and then thanks to him, we all had a chair on the aisle for both wedding and reception. Padre, I am sure your effort helped make a very special day for the bride and groom. Thanks for letting us all share in the happiness of that occasion.

Great story, Father Bill. And great photos to back it up.

I do hope that the Quest of the Quaich brings it our way for a proper dousing. If we should be graced with its presence, we will have a high bar to measure our performance.
