Yes, I'm familiar with Tartan Thistle, my wife got my practice chanter there. They have a great reputation. There is another shop up in the Vancouver, BC area, Tartan Town, that is also excellent. I think it is run by the same family. I stop in occassionally when we drive up to visit our grand daughter. Jack Lee is a super friendly guy. I'm not in a position yet to buy, I'm still saving for my own set of pipes so I can turn in the loaner set I'm playing now, but all of this info is fascinating. Thanks, everyone, keep it coming.

Thanks for the link, Rocky. Lots of informative videos you have there. I'll check them out. So much to learn. Wish I would have started this journey 30 years ago.

You could also drop a note to Steve Ashton at Freedom Kilts. He's just across the strait in Victoria and might have some examples from the various mills on hand you could look at.
