This comes up again and again, and I think a lot of people fail to realize that there are rules regarding how to wear pants properly.
-Highwaters are a no-no.
-Belts go inside the belt loops.
-The waist should come up above your underwear, so that you aren't wearing your pants like a rapper, but at the same time, it shouldn't come up to your armpits like your grandpa.
-The zipper goes in the front. (Anyone else remember Kriss Kross?)
-You don't wear them inside out. (Like in Back to the Future II)
-You don't wear jeans to an event where other people are in tuxedos. (Weddings, funerals...)
-You don't wear a tuxedo to places where people are wearing jeans. (Picnics, baseball games)
There is really a limitless number of rules for how to wear pants. We just never think about them because everyone is wearing pants all the time, we know the rules because we see them in effect every day. If you went outside the rules wearing pants you would be laughed at. I bet all of us have laughed at someone for breaking at least one of the rules on how to wear pants.
Kilts are the same. There have been threads on this forum laughing at people for wearing their kilts with the pleats in front or on the side. Or for wearing their kilts too long. Or too short.

Alaskan said.. "...it shouldn't come up to your armpits like your grandpa..."
I find that's the only way I can be comfortable in trousers....
I order mine special, made exactly like the old high-waisted trousers of grandpa's day, and wear 'em high up like grandpa did...
Bottom line, I'm quite a bit more comfortable in trousers than most, but, then again, maybe that explains why I don't have a girlfriend... [/quote][/i]

I have most types of kilt and virtually every form of kilt accessory - but I don't and won't have Ghillies, not even for wear with my Prince Charlie!! They are an abomination IMHO.

I can't decide seem getting a pair of traditonal Ghillies may be out of reach and I am not sure if i would like the laces tied about the shin and all.
look at my site or maybe hamish' site. there are a few ideas.I got some ideas from the utilikilt site too, lots of pix there.

Once again I am forced to agree with you Hamish, I doubt I could ever wear them, the closest I have come to it is wearing pumps with laces for Scottish Country Dancing.
Sorry (Blu), but a kilt looks such a manly garment, and adding shoes with laces up the leg just blows it for me!

Most of the time I wear a regular buttondown type shirt and black walking shoes (which will need replacing soon because they're getting pretty nasty looking) or combat boots. To dress up a bit a pair of plain black oxfords. Never cared for the look of wingtips. They remind me of a yuppie pretending to be powerful.
